Conservative Therapies

In some cases it is recommended to alleviate back problems with conservative therapies. In this context, we have a variety of medication and physical methods at our disposal: among other things, injection treatment, physiotherapy, massage, heat and cold therapies.

In the context of injection treatment, we inject medication against pain and inflammation directly into the relevant nerve roots. The injections can also be located more precisely under screen displays, CT or MRT.

ImageBy means of physiotherapeutic measures you learn how to use and coordinate your body consciously. Calm and careful movements improve blood flow and nutrient supplies of the relevant muscles, bones and soft tissues. Additionally we rebuild the muscles, which act as a supporting corset for the vertebral column.

ImageMassages or manual therapies are used for cases of muscle tensioning. Kneading, rubbing, knocking and striking lead to an improved blood flow in the muscles. That way, the muscle fibers relax. The application of heat has a similar effect. At the same time, its acts as a pain-killer. The long-term exposure to cold also is appropriate for muscle relaxation in certain cases. Since the blood vessels contract under its exposure, cold therapies reduce both the conduction of pain by the nerve fibers and blood circulation. Thus we reduce, at the same time, the diffusion of hematomas and swellings.

Additionally there exist other conservative methods, for instance, electricity, TENS, soft laser radiation, magnetic field and shock wave therapy.

Which of these therapies is applied to you depends on your individual medical picture. The combination of several methods is also possible. In other cases we recommend to reject conservative therapies and to treat the causes by means of minimally invasive methods or microsurgery.
