Disc cells transplantation
The wear process begins already during the person’s youth. The intevertebral discs lose their capacity to keep water in the tissue, thereby reducing their height. Therefore they no longer buffer the friction between the vertebrae. The consequence is the prolapse of the intervertebral disc with unbearable pain or instability of the spinal column. During the treatment of the occurrences of wear, we have recently been using the method of intervertebral disc cultivation. By means of this process, for the first time the volume of the intervertebral discs can be maintained and their elasticity can be restituted. We are thus treating the real cause, as opposed to acute symptoms. We are the first clinic in the world to employ this method for the spinal column of the neck as well.
Process of Treatment
With local anesthesia and projection screen monitoring, we take the intervertebral disc tissue as in percutaneous nucleotomy as well as a blood sample. If a microsurgical intervention in the back is planned anyway, we carry out the removal during this OP. In a special laboratory, experts isolate healthy cells from this tissue, under the highest safety standards, and reproduce them. Already a few weeks later, we introduce the newly cultivated cells, with local anesthesia, into the intervertebral disc core. Thus these cells can already take over their natural role as shock absorbers again after a short while. Since we use exclusively cells from the patient’s own body, no allergic rejection reactions occur.
